Hugh Jackman reveals the secret of his relationship
In ZEITmagazin MANN, Hugh Jackman describes what fascinates him about his wife Deborra-Lee Furness: ”Today she is my wife and my best friend. Sure, she’s sexy. But her warmth, her humour and her courage are paramount. When I doubted myself early in my career, she believed in me.”
Jackman explains why their marriage has lasted so long: “The secret of our relationship is based on two simple rules that we agreed early on: We’re both actors, but we never work at the same time. In this way, we can be there for each other. And we’re never apart for more than two weeks at a time. We still follow these two rules today.”
Jackman also talks about a meeting with his idol in 2013, the actor Daniel Day-Lewis:”The day before the Oscar ceremony, all the nominees had lunch together. Daniel Day-Lewis chatted with me, it was wonderful. He gave me some advice: I should take more time off after filming, time that I don’t spend working. Daniel Day-Lewis has been doing this for years: He only acts when he really wants to, when he’s burning for a role. After our meeting I thought: I’m not like that – but I should be.”
